Clock House is a hidden gem with rural aspects located in the centre of Marnhull village in the heart of the Blackmoor Vale and Thomas Hardy Dorset countryside. We offer superior bed and breakfast accommodation with the emphasis on homely comfort where you can relax and enjoy your ground floor bedroom with terrace area. In the warmer months you can take a cup of tea or glass of chilled wine and relax outside your room or, when it's cold outside, why not snuggle up in the evening by the wood-burning stove in the guest lounge. We offer a healthy but wholesome continental breakfast. Wherever possible we use locally produced ingredients, including local bread and cereals, with homemade jams and marmalade and Clock House locally pressed apple juice from our own apples, when available. We are dog friendly. We offer a Welcome box for your pooch that includes a dog bed, towel, bowl and complimentary dog treats.. There is also a dog shower available in the guest car park for any four-legged friend (or owner) that needs a hose down after a muddy walk. You are welcome to exercise your dog in the paddock adjacent to the car park but please be aware that it is not secure and there are cattle and sheep in the next field. You are responsible for the behaviour of your dog.
Have you a family celebration coming up? Clock House is an ideal venue for small group gatherings and we are happy to discuss individual catering needs. Book all four bedrooms for your group of family or friends, or we can provide additional accommodation next door in Tick Tock cottage, or host a drinks party in the guest sitting room? Please telephone or send an email to discuss your ideas.
To find us, if you approach Shaftesbury from the A350 (A303 or M3) from London and the East, you will see an Esso petrol station above a large roundabout just before you enter the town. Take the A30 from the roundabout, marked East Stour / Yeovil and drive for four miles, when you will arrive at the East Stour crossroads. Turn left taking the B3092 towards Marnhull / Sturminster Newton.
Beware satnav from this point, as it may try and send you down a VERY narrow road called LOVE LANE!. Instead, stay on the 'B' road for 3-4 miles until you see village signs for Marnhull. You will pass the Crown Pub on the right and then see a church in front of you. Turn right immediately in front of the church into Church Hill and follow the lane for half a mile, when it becomes Burton Street and you shortly come upon a parade of shops on the right hand side, including Robin Hill Stores and Post Office. Clock House entrance is on the same side of the road about 10 meters down.
You will see a sign for Clock House on the left hand side of the wall with a gravel drive. Go down the drive towards a row of 3 garages and on into the B&B private parking area. The entrance to the B&B is through the gap in the stone wall - follow the path to the french doors and please ring the bell.
